FAQs

First Time Getting a Bamboo Tattoo?

  • Does it hurt more than a regular tattoo?
Bamboo tattooing is generally gentler and heals faster for many clients.
  • Is it disrespectful to get a Sak Yant tattoo without blessing?
As long as it’s done respectfully and you understand its meaning — no. We’re always happy to guide you.
  • Will the tattoo be blessed?
No, we focus only on the tattoo design. Blessings are done by monks or ajarns.
  • What is a bamboo tattoo?
A bamboo tattoo is a traditional, hand-poked method using a bamboo stick and needle — no machines, no buzzing. Each dot of ink is placed by hand, allowing for calm, precise tattooing.
  • How long does a bamboo tattoo take?
Smaller designs can take as little as 30 minutes. Larger or more detailed pieces are done in sessions — just like with machine tattoos.
  • Is bamboo tattoo better than machine tattoo?
It depends on your preference. Bamboo tattoo is quieter, gentler on the skin, and heals faster for many clients. Machine tattoos are faster for shading and large fill areas.
  • Does bamboo tattoo hurt more than machine tattoo?
Most clients say it hurts less. The bamboo technique is softer and doesn’t penetrate as aggressively as a machine needle.
  • How long does it take to heal?
Bamboo tattoos usually heal within 5–7 days, with minimal scabbing or redness. Machine tattoos may take slightly longer depending on shading and skin sensitivity.
  • How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on size, placement, and complexity. Message us for an exact quote for Bamboo tattoos.
  • How do I book a session?
The fastest way is via WhatsApp. You can also use the booking form on our website. Walk-ins are welcome, but bookings are prioritised.
  • Do I need to bring a design?
Not necessarily. You can bring references, or just a rough idea — we’ll help create something custom based on your story and preferred style.
  • Can I come with a friend?
Yes, you're welcome to bring someone along for support or to consult together.
  • Where are you located?
We’re based in Chalong, Phuket. Directions and map are on the Contact page.
  • What aftercare do I need to follow?
We’ll give you aftercare instructions after your session, but in short: Keep it clean and dry Apply thin layer of ointment (we’ll provide this) Avoid scratching or picking Avoid tight clothing over the area
